The Northern Territory is practically all Outback.  Darwin is the setting of the Baz Luhrman’s movie Australia, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.  Kakadu National Park is often compared to an African Safari experience.  My favorite was swimming in water over 7,000 years old under a waterfall in the bush.  The Red Center has Alice Springs, famous for the Royal Flying Doctor, and Ayers Rock, which is the world’s largest monolith and sacred Aborigine sight known as Uluru by the natives.  With no major city for miles and miles, this sky is best for star gazing.  The Milky Way can be seen with the naked eye.  I enjoyed going to the Red Center onboard the Ghan Rail as an overnight train from Darwin.
